Shipping Clerk

PAY: $11/hour

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Our shipping clerks are responsible for the receiving and shipping of materials and goods This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, and performing light assembly duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and stock materials and product
  • Reviewing shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, packing slips, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Readjust shelves as necessary for optimal space utilization.
  • Verifying and maintain records for incoming products, materials, components, and prepare receiving and inventory documentation.
  • Pick products for outgoing sales orders.
  • Process items and orders through the system using common carrier, LTL, or air freight service.
  • Work through normal surges in volume or occasional rush/after hours shipment in order to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • As needed, deliver post office shipments to the post office.
  • Maintain clean work area, shelves, and warehouse.
  • Cycle count finished goods inventory daily and perform quarterly and annual counts as required.
  • Perform kitting and light assembly duties.
  • Enter data for received and shipped items in the computer.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous receiving and shipping experience a plus
  • Experience with computerized inventory tracking systems
  • Ability to maintain accuracy (detail-oriented) without missing deadlines.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills – accurate keying and obtaining transit data from carrier web sites.
  • Able to stand, kneel, bend, reach, and climb ladders throughout the shift, lift 20-pounds consistently without assistance.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: HS diploma or GED.

Cabinet CAD Designer (NEW!)

With customers such as Home Depot, Ace, Friedmans, Lee Valley Tools in Canada and several other small customers around the globe. Murphy Door is currently looking for a CAD Designer preferably with Cabinet Vision and Screen 2 Machine experience in the world of cabinet/ custom cabinet world. For the right employee this position would be the lead position in this new department located in our new design center based in Ogden Utah.

Job would entail taking existing designs and create new dynamic designs to be sold in store around the world. In addition to our stock new designs you would be also assisting our customers design their own custom designs. Our current doors already incorporate items like pool cue doors, gun doors, shoe rack doors, wine doors etc.
This position is a Full Time position and does require for you to report to our facility on a standard 40 hour work schedule. The pay range is from $15.00- $22.00 BOE. Murphy Door does offer Health, dental, vison and retirement.

Slowly we added more and more career firefighters to help fill the order demands, before we knew it there was a mix of 20 Full/Part time firefighter paramedics working here! What do we need? We need a leader! We would love someone that has several years in the building industry, who has long standing and existing relationships in the construction retail, contractor supply or residential remodel businesses, including relationships with some of our existing accounts like Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Friedman’s, Ace Hardware, Etc. and even better if you have a bunch of you own suppliers for that matter in the building industry we would love that too! It will just make you much more successful that much faster.

We need Someone that knows how to build a team!
Someone who knows exactly how to get a team to bond, who can be trained, and be accountable, but most importantly, be successful. We need someone with several years (3-5 yrs.) of experience in the sales leadership or manager role, a degree is greatly preferred but not an absolute must only if your resume is jaw dropping, to others and not just your mom.

Please be sure you have a minimum of one year but preferably several years at the management level, none of us want to waste one another’s time. Please have a reasonable understanding of construction and products, how they work, how projects go together etc. It makes everyone’s life a lot easier during training. In addition, it makes working with you better if you are easy to get along with and talk to, so strong interpersonal skill is a must.

You know what else is nice, the ability to write and verbally communicate. Please be easy to talk with, nothing worse than two strangers staring each other down during an interview and only one person asking questions, Please, please, please, bring your best you! We want to learn all about you.

Another thing that we are is Hardworking, we will not quit until we slay the dragon! (firefighter slang) we are extremely passionate about everything and we are persistent, you cannot give up, in the fire and medical service and you absolutely must be dependable, we truly are family, although we more than likely will not have to put our lives on the line slinging our products, we do want to count on each and every one of our team members.

Our products are some of the most talked about and engaging products of the last couple years. And don’t take it from us, in 2014 we won the coveted Celebrity Product of the year by AskMen.com, In 2015 we were one of Americas Top 3 building products according the NAHB. DIY Network and HGTV state that if you are building or remodeling we are a “Must Have, for any and all projects regardless of budget” Now ask yourself, is your product being talked about like this? Our company is a fairly new company we started with humble beginnings, most of us here work as full or part time firefighters, which I can assure you is a monumental task in itself to try and keep up with schedules. We love fire but we love it here to.

Within a few years we have driven this company from thousands to several million a year in sales. We work hard and we like to play harder, we are a group of co-workers and friends that love challenging each other and competing to get to the next goal first! Oh ya, and we LOVE fresh ideas! Bring them. If you are full of ideas that have to be shared we beg you, Bring them, PLEASE! We are great at several things but let us be honest, we are not so great at several more.

Dirty Laundry, here is a list of our not so great, here are a few things we think we could do better with.
Organization: We are not the best at organizing our game plan or our time, our ideal sales leader will not only know how to put one together but he will have lived it! We are smart enough to follow but not always the best at creating a model.

Accountability, we could definitely use a coach in this arena we love to be accountable, it is just not so easy for us to get it on paper and decide what are we going to be accountable for? We currently do not use a CRM but are actively looking for the right system for us and are open to advice into setting up with the right one for our market.
